Now, before you continue, we urge you not to shoot the messenger, as things are about to get a bit more fanciful than those Marko Grujic stories from earlier today, with news of a few of Europe’s top stars having also been linked with a move to Anfield.

Firstly, news from Italy (ItaSportPress) claims that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is to make a move for former Manchester United striker Guiseppe Rossi. The 28 year old striker has had a rough few years with injury, but his quality has always been clear.

The Italian international has struggled for goals this season in Florence though, with just 2 goals so far this season at the side that currently sit in 2nd in Serie A, but a fee of around £18 million could serve to have the club look at other options.

Elsewhere, and Liverpool are reportedly being alerted to Brazilian star Lucas Moura possibly being available from Paris St. Germain. The reports from French site Le 10 Sport (via the Daily Express) claim that the 23 year old isn’t too happy after being pushed out a little since the arrival of Angel Di Maria from Manchester United.

Moura became one of the most expensive young stars in history when he signed for the French giants but is reportedly available ‘for the right price’, and the club will no doubt see the current crop of Brazilian stars at the club as a big boost if they choose to pursue Moura.

But while the Reds may be hopeful of their chances to sign the midfielder, it’s unlikely they’ll get a free run at him, considering the fairly paltry £21.5 million fee touted in the reports. Watch this space, indeed.

And finally, the news that all Reds have no doubt been waiting to hear: Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with Borussia Dortmund over a move for Mats Hummels. Although, don’t hold your breath, as that particular peach comes courtesy of the same source (and man) that brought us the Guiseppe Rossi news, so it’s probably safe to say it’s unlikely to be happening any time soon.

Hummels has been eternally linked with a move to Anfield, particularly at times of defensive lapses or vulnerability, so it’s not surprising to read such stories after the defeat to Newcastle.

Any Red would undoubtedly welcome Hummels with open arms, but considering how well Dortmund are doing, not to mention the enormous fee that would be associated with the 26 year old World Cup winner, this one can probably be chalked up to having column inches to fill.

As fanciful as the Moura and Hummels rumours are, are any of these likely to come to fruition? Let us know your thoughts below.
