GK/Defence
Adam Bogdan – Simon Mignolet is reportedly to be offered a new contract by the club, meaning that he may not be going anywhere anytime soon. But Bogdan has been highly impressive in his only two games for the club so far and another good display tonight certainly wouldn’t do him (or Mignolet) any harm.
Martin Skrtel – As was stated in the opening few paragraphs, the temptation is to rest key players but we’re at the stage now where the strongest side possible has to be played in a competition with just five teams remaining.
Dejan Lovren – Having missed much of the season after losing his place to Mamadou Sakho, Lovren should be able to cope with the increased number of games at the moment. He also has some improved form to build on and the game tonight against his former side could be a real watershed moment.
Nathaniel Clyne – Considering this is at St. Mary’s tonight, the likes of Moreno and Clyne will be expected to work even harder so Klopp will have to keep an eye on their fitness levels, particularly Clyne who seems to have played every 90 minutes this season.
Alberto Moreno – Moreno is still a young footballer but playing so often with little rest will begin to take it’s toll in the coming weeks. Ideally, it would be good to see the Reds get in to an early lead so that the likes of Moreno could be given a rest. But if what he’s said today is anything to go by, he and his team mates are relishing the intense run of matches at present.
