Player Ratings: Watford 3-0 LIVERPOOL

|
The 30 year old was in commanding form for the Reds today

Skrtel limped off just before the break today

GK/Defence

Adam Bogdan – Not even we expected to be giving two separate goalies a 3/10 two weeks in a row but Bogdan looked no better this week than Mignolet did last. He was unfortunate that his first touch of the game was a weak one, even more unfortunate that the ref allowed the goal to stand after clearly having it kicked out of his hands but football waits for nobody and you have to take your chances. Bogdan didn’t. He slightly redeemed himself with a couple of decent late saves but he also isn’t the answer to Liverpool’s goalkeeping problems. Rating – 3

Nathaniel Clyne – As solid as always at the back but he was as bad as ever going forward. Seems intent of simply getting rid of the ball when he gets closer to the opposition box, regardless of who he gives it too. If he’s to become the sort of fullback Klopp likes, he’s got some serious work to do on his support play.  Rating – 5

Martin Skrtel – Had his struggles and can take some of the blame for Watford’s second, despite initially flicking the ball away from goal, but an injury late in the first half saw him taken out of the equation. He’ll be glad of that, at least. Rating – 4

Mamadou Sakho – Had Skrtel, Lovren or Toure had the sort of day Sakho had today they’d have been slaughtered and rightly so. But the time has come for Sakho to not be absolved of blame or have excuses made for him. If he was fit enough to start, then fitness can be no excuse for constantly collapsing on the spot, mis-controlling the ball and looking like his boots were made of rocks. Sakho is one of a number of Reds players at present who has a lot of hype surrounding him but often fails to live up to it. Really needs to start justifying why so many rate him so highly, but on a regular basis. Rating – 3

Alberto Moreno – Did what he could to get up and support Liverpool’s attack and, in the first half, he was always available to his team mates on the left. But his crossing was aimless and his decision making very slapdash. Those early weeks under Klopp seem far behind him now and he’s hit a plateau like he did last season. Rating – 5
