Can was absolutely abysmal today

Midfield

Lucas Leiva – It’s been some time since we’ve had to criticise Lucas but he really wasn’t at the races in the first half. Once he switched to centre back, he did a passable job and actually steadied the ship, which was perhaps Klopp’s thinking. Rating – 5.5

Jordan Henderson – Used Moreno to good effect in parts of the first half, and his cross field passes opened Watford up on several occasions, albeit to little effect. Reverted to the headless chicken in the final 20 minutes though, chasing the ball, shooting when better options were available and generally getting in the way. Ultimately, not the most impressive captain’s performance. Rating – 5.5

Emre Can – When we’re having to give out 3 separate ‘3’ ratings, you know that Liverpool didn’t have a good day and Emre Can certainly didn’t at that. Can, like Sakho, has mostly escaped the fan’s ire since he joined the club, enjoying a strange relationship of almost universal acclaim despite contributing very little. Today was one of his worst performances in a Red shirt. He constantly lost the ball, looked weak on (and off) the ball and was physically bullied by Watford’s midfield. We know what CanĀ should be capable of, he just isn’t showing it yet on a consistent basis but he really must start to soon. Rating – 3
