Ratings: Newcastle 2-0 LIVERPOOL

|
The 30 year old was in commanding form for the Reds today

The Slovakian defender was poor today

GK/Defence

Simon Mignolet – Absolutely nothing to do but retrieve the ball from his own net twice. Rating – 6

Nathaniel Clyne – Did little of note in the opposition half but was generally fairly solid at the back.  Rating – 6

Martin Skrtel – Worst game in a while from the previously rock solid Slovakian. Always found wanting when up against a fast, tricky forward and it showed again today. His performance was made all the worse by an own goal. Rating – 5.5

Dejan Lovren – Was decent throughout but, like Skrtel, struggled to keep up with Newcastle’s pacy attackers. Needs to show more dominance in the air too, particularly when attacking corners, as one weak effort in the second half demonstrated. It may not be his job to score goals but the size of some of Liverpool’s players, more goals should be being scored from set-pieces. Rating – 6

Alberto Moreno – One of the better performers on a bad day. Supported the attack (what little attack there was) well, getting forward whenever he could and was very unlucky to have a goal wrongly chalked off for offside. Rating – 6.5
