Kolo Toure/Adam Lallana – It’s hard to separate Toure and Lallana, in terms of how they fared under Klopp.
Prior to his arrival, both were having their individual struggles, with Toure looking very much like he was simply at the club to be a happy, smiling dressing room presence, whilst Lallana was flattering to deceive. In the four months since, Lallana is still a frustrating figure – sometimes brilliant in possession but infuriating where it matters but, as we stated a few months ago, on paper, he could be the perfect Klopp player.
Lallana has added the odd goal and assist since Jurgen arrived, and Klopp clearly favours the England midfielder. Since Sturridge and Coutinho’s return from injury though, it looks like his chances may be limited. But there will still be a place for Lallana under Klopp going into the summer, so it’s fair to say the 48 year old may have given Lallana a stay of execution at Anfield.
As for Kolo, he has probably been the Reds’ best defender in the past month. Considering that both Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel have spent the best part of the last four weeks out injured, that isn’t too hard. But while Mamadou Sakho has been having a bit of a nightmare lately, Kolo has stepped in to lead the back-line ably. He may well be moved on in the summer, but Jurgen has given Kolo the chance to exit the club on a real high.
