The midfielder was having a solid game prior to his injury

Midfield

Joe Allen – As with Lovren, Allen has received a new lease of life under Klopp but was withdrawn shortly before the break. Typical for Allen, after being handed his first big start since Christmas. Rating – 6

Jordan Henderson – The captain improved slightly on recent displays but continues to squander possession unnecessarily. We can only hope his injury is lingering because, if this is a severe dip in form, it’s not going away anytime soon. Rating – 5.5

Emre Can – If you asked the question throughout the game today: ‘what exactly does Emre Can do?’, you probably weren’t alone. On the face of it, we’re led to believe that Can is a box-to-box midfielder but, a bit like Sakho, it’s often hard to see what his reputation is built on. Constantly gave the ball away, couldn’t find his team mates from 5 yards and continues those aimless forward runs that sees him run the ball out. Needs to improve, and fast. Rating – 5
