After impressing everyone with the intense pressing game at Anfield on Thursday that mixed chasing, aggression and wonderful technique, Liverpool have one foot in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Van Gaal brought his typically pragmatic approach to Anfield, no doubt hoping for a repeat of his earlier visit in January, where United stole a very fortunate 3 points in the Premier League game but it just wasn’t to be, with Klopp’s magic beginning to brush off on his players.

According to Daniel Sturridge, it’ll be exactly the same at Old Trafford next week, with Liverpool taking the same approach to ensure progress into the last eight of the competition.

Speaking in the Liverpool Echo, Dan said: “We’ll approach the second leg exactly the same as we did the first leg. That’s the only way we know.

“The Liverpool way is to win games so we will go into the second leg and be positive.

“The confidence is there within the camp and we are just looking forward to every game. We are mentally prepared for every job we have ahead of us.”

Taking a strong 2-nil lead to Old Trafford will put the players in a relaxed state of mind, but Klopp will be keen to ensure that his team aren’t too confident, regardless of how unlikely it will be to see Van Gaal’s team overturn the deficit.
