Lovren returned to the team and was excellent, whilst Mignolet had little to do

GK/Defence

Simon Mignolet – The most positive thing to say about Simon Mignolet tonight is that it’s hard to remember him having a save to make. As the second half wore on and the Reds strolled into a 3-0 lead, City were allowed more possession but had just the one shot on target all game. Rating – 5

Nathaniel Clyne – It’s hard not to see Clyne’s first season at Anfield as one of the few major positives. He was excellent tonight, supported well and defended very comfortably. Rating – 7

Kolo ToureWhat can you say about Kolo? The veteran centre back just continues to impress in the final few months of his Liverpool career. Fans will keep pleading for another season but just let Kolo enjoy his last few months and continue to show this sort of form. Dominated Aguero tonight and even beat him for pace at one point. Rating 7

Dejan Lovren – It’s hard to remember Lovren having a more comfortable game of football but a lot of that was owed to his own excellent return to the team. Strong in the air and good on the ground, he stepped up well when needed. Rating – 7

Jon Flanagan – Looked rusty with some of his forward work, and is still prone to the odd rash tackle (hope you enjoyed that, Raheem!) but Flanagan is a much better option than Moreno at left-back. As it was, he was played at right-back tonight and completely nullified the threat of Sterling. That £40-odd million is beginning to a look a bit silly now, considering two separate Liverpool full-backs have kept him quiet in two consecutive games. Rating – 7.5
