Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the Liverpool Echo that he won’t talk about transfer fees in regards to potential new signings this summer.

The German manager says he has an agreement in place with Fenway Sports Group that getting the right players in is more important than the transfer fee that it costs to buy them:

“Hopefully we will never talk about the money around signings. Not because it’s not a big number or something but because if we take a player it’s because we believe he fits what we need, not because he’s expensive or he’s cheap. Our owners are completely behind that and it’s really cool.”

The Reds are said to be close on a number of signings including Mainz keeper Loris Karius and Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski. Both players have been heavily linked in the German media and Italian media respectively in recent weeks and the normally reliable ECHO have also confirmed that the club are in “advanced talks” for Karius while they are also in talks with Udinese regarding Zielinski. Both players are young and quite inexperienced so it will be interesting to see whether Klopp is seeking more young prospects to bolster the squad this summer.
