The 31 year old was poor again today

GK/Defence

Danny Ward – The only player to emerge from the game with any credit. Without him, we’d have been on the end of a real hiding, great display from the young goalie throughout. Rating – 7 Man of the Match

Nathaniel Clyne – Had little impact in Swansea’s half but was surprisingly lax in defence. Will undoubtedly start on Thursday but will be expected to contribute much more at both ends of the pitch. Rating – 6

Martin Skrtel – If Skrtel really is to leave the club in the summer then it’s a sad end for the 31 year old, who was again poor today. Possibly at fault for 2 of the goals but the defence as a whole was poor. Rating – 5

Dejan Lovren – As when Sakho is alongside him having a nightmare, Lovren can’t do it all himself. Looked the only one trying to prevent Swansea at times but struggled with Skrtel beside him today. Rating – 6

Brad Smith – Poor throughout and then sent off – a day to forget for Brad Smith but he certainly wasn’t he only one of which that can be said today. Rating – 4
