Liverpool are one of a number of clubs interested in Atletico Mineiro left back Douglas Santos, according to Globo Esporte. The 22 year old played one friendly match for Brazil against Panama in a 2-0 win in the build up to the Copa America and was scouted by Barcelona at the match.
Globo Esporte believe that in addition Barcelona, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Valencia have expressed an interest in the full back. Barca want a younger replacement for Adriano who is leaving for Lazio but Douglas’s club Atletico Mineiro are demanding €10million or £8million for the player.
With Liverpool failing in a £7m bid for Leicester City left back Ben Chilwell, they may be looking for alternatives and Douglas could be on the shortlist of potential candidates to compete with Alberto Moreno for a place in the starting eleven. The Brazilian previously had spells in Europe with Granada and Udinese before moving back to Brazil.
