According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool already have their summer targets locked in, and Arne Slot has not requested Feyenoord players.

Liverpool are planning for life after the legendary Jurgen Klopp this summer and Michael Edwards will return to pull the strings at the top of the club, while Richard Hughes will be in charge of recruitment.

Not only that, Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is on course to become the German coach’s successor for next season so the wheels are certainly in motion to move onto the next chapter at Anfield.

The Reds have struggled to pull off the perfect ending to Klopp’s tenure as they recently crashed out of the Europa League and have begun to fall short in the Premier League title race with just three games to go.

However, there is no doubt that there will be big shoes to fill when the Liverpool boss departs in a few weeks after winning almost every major trophy over his eight-year reign on the red side of Merseyside.

CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has been speaking to GIVEMESPORT about the upcoming summer transfer plans for Liverpool, and why Slot won’t just be bringing his Feyenoord favourites to Anfield.

When asked as to whether Slot had requested to bring his players over to England, Jacobs revealed:

“Yeah, I don’t think it quite works like that because the manager, especially at a club like Liverpool, doesn’t have autonomy, and certainly wouldn’t be using a job interview to speak as playing staff that he may bring.”

“Liverpool’s recruitment model works in a collaborative way. And the manager has to buy into that and never has autonomy. So this won’t be a case of Slot interviewing and speaking of players he will request from Feyenoord.”

“Liverpool will already have their summer plans largely locked in. There are more question marks with Liverpool about who’s staying than necessarily who they’re signing,”

“And then depending on the answer to those questions, they will start to understand who else they may need and how much budget they might have.”

Will Liverpool sell players this summer?

There is no doubt that Liverpool will likely continue to operate under their strict recruitment strategy, especially with Edwards returning to the club and so successful in making FSG’s model work perfectly.

As a result, it would come as no surprise if the Merseyside giants look to sell on some of their assets this summer or at least trim down their wage bill in order to acquire some fresh faces ahead of next season.

Thiago Alcantara is unlikely to gain a new contract at the club after spending the entire season injured and his £200k-per-week wages will be seen as a hefty amount to get off the books in the summer.

Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are the three most influential players coming to the final 12 months of their contracts so it will come as no surprise if their futures aren’t addressed in the coming months, but at this moment in time, there is no suggestion that the trio will be moved on.

With that being said, it will undoubtedly be an extremely interesting summer for Liverpool supporters as the club look to approach the transfer window and contract negotiations without Klopp.
