Hoffenheim defender Niklas Sule has confirmed he will remain with the German club next season despite speculation about a move away from the Bundesliga side.

Sule has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund over the past couple of months but when asked by BILD about whether a move away would interest him in order to get into the German national side, he said:

“That is what everyone wants. But I’m only 20 years old. In one or two years Champions or Europa League football would be good too. But for me it was the better step to stay in Hoffenheim.”

The centre back had a good season with Hoffenheim last campaign, making 34 appearances as the German club avoided relegation, finishing 15th, one point above the relegation playoff position. Sule has has spent six years at the club since joining as a youth player from Darmstadt in 2010. He has 10 caps at under 21 level for Germany but has yet to gain a full cap. A towering centre half at 6ft 5, and with room to develop his game, he has a promising future ahead of him.
