Fenerbahce have not given up hope on securing Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic for a second loan spell in Turkey, according to the Portuguese newspaper Record.

The 24 year old spent all of last season on loan at the Turkish club but struggled with a hamstring injury which prevented him from having a significant impact. The Yellow Canaries are prepared to give the player another chance on loan, where he made 21 appearances last campaign, scoring two goals and providing three assists.

Yesterday Record also reported that Markovic is interesting Sporting Lisbon. Sporting’s manager Jorge Jesus managed the Serbian when he was at Benfica and is keen to bring in the winger as a replacement for Portuguese international Joao Mario who is expected to leave the club for Inter Milan this summer. The big stumbling block, according to Record, will be Markovic’s €4million a year salary which they would not be able to afford.
