Juventus and Liverpool will fight it out over Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti, according to Gazzetta World, the English version of the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is said to be an admirer of the Italian international and has been tracking the 33 year old in recent months. Juventus meanwhile are said to want to beat the Reds to the punch by bidding €4million plus wing back Maurcio Isla for the Lazio keeper.

Juve manager Massimiliano Allegri coached Marchetti when the pair worked together at Cagliari and he is keen to link up with the Lazio star again in Turin, with the player planned to be Gianlugi Buffon’s cover, just like at international level.

Marchetti will be on the bench for Italy when the Azzurri face Germany in the quarter final of the European Championships and with Lazio expected to bring in Marcelo Bielsa as their new manager, his future is up in the air.
