The Record newspaper in Portugal continue to insist that Benfica forward Anderson Talisca’s move to Liverpool is still on the cards. The Reds have been linked with the 22 year old in the Portuguese press for the past month but the player’s inability to get a work permit to play in the UL is proving to be a stumbling block.

For non EU players to play in the Premier League, they must have played at least 75% of their national team’s matches for the past two years, a requirement Talisca does not meet as he is not played a single time for Brazil.

The Record do however believe the precedent of Arsenal centre back Gabriel Paulista could be something that could be looked at. Gabriel also did not fulfil the required international caps to qualify automatically for a work permit but his case was still approved.

Benfica are also said to be looking for potential suitors in Spain for the player if the work visa can’t be sorted out. In the mean time, Talisca is believed to be in the UK training at St Georges Park to gain fitness, the Record reports.
