Udinese Sporting Director Nerio Bonato has stated that Liverpool’s interest in Piotr Zielinski is tenuous at best and he has advised the Polish international to not hold out for a move to Anfield and choose Napoli, who have already had a £12.5m bid accepted for him.

In an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss (quotes via MondoNapoli), Bonato says that now the European Championships are out of the way, he has encouraged Zielinski to not delay his decision any further:

“The agreement with Napoli for Zielinski has been there for some time, and the boy took a bit of time for the Euros. Poland are now out, and in the coming days, it is time for making a decision. At this time the boy and his agents have to be good to see that this is a critical step. Liverpool have had a chat with us, but we have not got a real proposal for the player. If the boy understands that the interest of Reds is tenuous, he could then decide on the club that truly wants him.”

The Reds have been linked with the player since January but although there have been reports in the UK press that the Reds have bid for the player, Sporting Director Bonato has made clear that there only real offer has come from Napoli. The 22 year old was on loan at Serie A side Empoli last season and his impressive performances has led to interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.
