AC Milan are ready to step up their chase for Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski, according to Tuttomercatoweb.com.

The Italian website say that the Rossoneri have “accelerated” its negotiations for the Polish international as both Napoli and Liverpool’s interest seem to have faded.

AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani is said to have held meetings with Udinese this weekend regarding Zielinski but there is a fly in the ointment. Milan’s takeover by a Chinese consortium is not yet finalised and therefore the Serie A club cannot start talks regarding transfer fees.

The consortium is expected to finalise the takeover in the next 10 days but until then Galliani is trying to propose informal preliminary agreements for players so the club does not miss out on crucial signings because of the takeover. Once the new owners are in place, Milan can then move forward to sign their top targets. So in summary, Napoli have had a bid accepted but Zielinski does not want to move there, the Reds are believed to have had a similar bid rejected and have shown no signs of making another, while Milan want to sign the player but can’t offer any money yet. It really is a mess.
