Roma chief executive Mauro Baldissoni has told reporters that midfielder Leandro Paredes is interesting other clubs but he expects the 22 year old to stay at the Italian side.

Paredes has been linked with a number of clubs including Liverpool, Leicester City and Zenit St Petersburg but talking at the press conference for the unveiling of Federico Fazio signed from Tottenham, Baldissoni said:

“It’s true that other teams like him. Paredes is a Roma player and we believe he will remain a Roma player. On the market in general you make your decisions according to the opportunities that present themselves, with the aim of building a competitive squad. So it’s possible to take initiatives as long as the market is open. This is true for Paredes, as it is for every player. And he’s not our only footballer who garnered interest from European clubs.”

The Italian press have consistently linked the Reds with two holding midfielders over the past few weeks, and along with Paredes, Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic has also been talked about regarding a proposed move to Anfield. Roma are reportedly looking for €20million for Paredes, and after spending last season out on loan at Empoli, despite Baldissoni’s statement, he doesn’t appear to be in Luciano Spalletti’s plans after the Italian manager commented last week that although he believes Parades is a strong player, he needs money to reinvest in other areas of the squad.
