Liverpool full back Jon Flanagan has agreed to go on a season long loan to Premier League newcomers Burnley, according to the Daily Mail. The 23 year old is set to undergo a medical at Turfmoor this weekend before finalising the loan.

Although it is believed Flanagan is still part of Jurgen Klopp’s long term plans at Anfield, the right back’s 18 month injury layoff means he is critically short of games. With Nathaniel Clyne first choice at right back and Alberto Moreno currently first choice on the opposite flank, Flanagan’s game time would have been restricted to cup competitions this season and Klopp thinks a move to Burnley would benefit Flanagan with regular game time guaranteed.

Liverpool have been careful to include guarantees in their loan agreements this season that require clubs to play loanees in a certain number of matches, and with Sean Dyche very short in cover at right back, it seems like a very good match.
