Lazio have joined Sporting Lisbon, Schalke and Fiorentina in the race to sign Liverpool winger Lazio Markovic, according to Il Tempo.

The Italian newspaper has named the Serbian as one of three possible names to replace Antonio Candreva at the Serie A club. Italian international Candreva left for Inter Milan this summer and Il Tempo believe that Markovic, along with Atletico Madrid’s Alessio Cerci and Rennes’ Paul-Georges Ntep are the names tipped to replace him at the Stadio Olimpico.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised Markovic’s desire to gain full fitness after initially lacking confidence in preseason due to his struggles with hamstring injuries on loan at Fenerbahce last campaign but he made it clear that he is open to the midfielder leaving the club before the end of the transfer window:

“We have time between now and Aug. 31 where maybe something will happen. Maybe it will happen earlier, maybe it will happen on the 31st, or maybe it will never happen. That’s how it is.”

All four interested sides could be looking to sign the winger on a loan deal. Whether the Reds want to the Serbian to depart on a temporary basis once again is not known.
