Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has told Radio Kiss Kiss (quotes via Football-Italia.net) that his club are not in a position to help Mario Balotelli end his nightmare stay at Liverpool.

The 25 year old is currently having to train with Liverpool’s youth team as he is not part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the new season but like many other clubs, Zamparini has claimed the Italian striker’s wages are just too much and that he wouldn’t have the desire or drive to play for the Serie A side on a lower salary:

“Technically, there’s nothing to discuss with the lad. But what kind of desire and drive would a lad who is earning €5m-€6m a year have to come to Palermo? We can’t solve Balotelli’s problems.”

Chievo Verona are believed to be in the running to sign Balotelli on loan with president Luca Campedelli keen to sign him. Reports in Italy today claim that Balotelli has told friends he wants to join the Italian club but it looks like any deal is far off. Chievo would find it difficult to match Balotelli’s wage demands and would require Liverpool to fit part or most of the bill for the loan; something the Reds appear unwilling to do.
