Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has been extolling the virtues of Liverpool fans in an interview with BBC Africa. The forward made the £30million switch from Southampton this summer and was asked about how the Reds fans reacted.

The 24 year old was full in his praise for the support he has received from Liverpool supporters, although there was one thing he says will get some getting used to:

“You just have to see the social networks to understand that these are individual supporters. They are magnificent. For me, they are the best supporters. For cons, I must admit that I still need some time to get used to the local accent!”

There was concern that the player had suffered an ankle injury against Namibia in an African Cup of Nations qualifier for Senegal when he came off after 66 minutes and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was so concerned that he phoned the Senegalese star last night.

According to the Liverpool Echo however, Mane was quick to put the Reds boss’s mind at ease, and he returned to Melwood today with no signs of an injury. It looks very likely then that he will face Leicester City for his home debut on Saturday evening.
