Inter Milan have entered the race to sign Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho, according to calciomercato.it. The Italian club are believed to want the centre back on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy the player next summer.
The 26 year old is not in Jurgen Klopp’s first team plans after the pair fell out during Liverpool’s preseason tour of the United States. It seems the Frenchman’s future with the Reds was all but decided after he refused to go out on loan as instructed by the Liverpool boss back in the summer.
The fact that Sakho was not even included in the squad for the Reds’ EFL Cup tie against Tottenham last week despite the inclusion of many reserves and youth players suggests the defender will not be picked for any match in any competition for the foreseeable future. That is despite the centre back proving his fitness whilst playing for Liverpool’s Under 23 side in recent weeks.
