Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reiterated that he has final say on all transfers at the Reds.

It was announced today that Michael Edwards would be appointed Sporting Director to help with transfer negotiations and other administrative tasks but the German told reporters at his pre-match press conference this afternoon that he will be taking full responsibility for all decisions the club makes on the transfer front:

The Reds boss is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying the buck will stop with him if he is ever asked in another press conference about whose responsibility it is for signing individual players:

“I’ll have the final say but I had the final say before. In moments when somebody is not happy and you ask ‘is this your player or his player?’, it will always by my player. I can’t blame anyone for anything. I can take the pressure.”

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group originally put a Director of Football in place when they first arrived at the club, but after the appointment of Brendan Rodgers as manager, this structure was shelved in a favour of the much criticised transfer committee. Hopefully a return to a continental management structure will prove successful.
