Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne is still waiting on talks to resume over a new contract, according to Il Mattino. The Italian newspaper report that Insigne’s agents Antonio Ottaiano and Fabio Andreotti have not been contacted by Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis about extending his current deal.

Insigne currently has a deal that runs until 2019 worth in the region of €1.9million a season but past reports have suggested that the player wants a deal that would double his current salary to €4million, which has not gone down well with Laurentiis.

Liverpool have been consistently linked with a move for the 25 year old as Jurgen Klopp is keen to sign another winger as he feels the Reds squad lacks players in that position. The player himself is however keen to stay at the San Paolo although there have been tensions with the club’s fans due to contract talks stalling.

In October, Insigne left the field in tears after being subbed in the 3-2 defeat to Besiktas in the Champions League. The Italian international was booed off after missing a penalty in the match, but his fortunes have since turned around after scoring both goals in the 2-1 win over Udinese at the weekend.
