Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic will not be joining Sporting Lisbon permanently at the end of his season long loan spell, according to Record as the Portuguese club were unable to secure a purchase option as part of their loan agreement.
The Portuguese newspaper say that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp still believes in the Serbian’s potential and wanted the 22 year old to be loaned out to regain his pace and form before returning to Liverpool next season. He believes that Sporting is the ideal place for the player to make a recovery and improve.
His spell so far in Portugal has however been a troubled one. He has started just four matches in total in all competitions, and has been used sparingly as a substitute in many others.
The winger did however score his only goal so far at the beginning of October when he did start against Vitoria Guimaraes in a 3-3 draw.
