The Reds face competition for Sassuolo’s Gregoire Defrel if they want to sign him, going by what his agent Giampiero Pocetta has told French outlet footmercato.
The striker has been one of the many impressive players for the Serie A side in recent times as they have continued to punch above their weight in the Italian top flight.
And that form has apparently caught our interest according to Italian outlet Calciomercato, as well as that of fellow Premier League side West Ham.
It appears, though, if we want to bring him in anytime soon we’ll have to beat off the interest of Marseille, too, who are looking to build their side back up.
Defrel’s agent said of the Ligue 1 club’s interest:
“It’s true Marseille are interested.
“It’s a very important club. That a club of that size is interested in Gregoire makes us happy.”
Where Defrel ends up remains to be seen, then, and whilst he is not perhaps a household name with Jurgen Klopp’s history of turning unknown players into greats we shouldn’t jump to conclusions just yet.
