Our chase of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks to have finished as quick as it started as Jurgen Klopp moved quickly to quash the rumours.

As quoted by Clubcall, the German boss was engaging in his usual pre-match conference when he was asked about the potential signing of the Arsenal man in the January window.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been in and out of the Gunners team all season with the likes of Alex Iwobi offering him serious competition.

And, with Sadio Mane off to the Africa Cup of Nations later on next month, the Reds could do with another winger in the squad.

It appears, though, should we sign another wide-man, it won’t be the man dubbed ‘The Ox.’

The boss was pretty straightforward with his response when asked about the rumour as he said:

“I don’t usually say anything about transfer rumours but I can make an exception. Nonsense.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain is unlikely to come then, Reds, and so it remains to be seen if we do sign a Mane replacement next month.
