What a night it was in the end at Goodison Park as the Reds eventually ran out 1-0 winners over Everton in the latest edition of the Merseyside Derby.
Before the game a lot of the talk had been about how the Reds were going to reel in Chelsea who had opened up a nine point gap to us at the top of the league but we duly responded with a gritty and resilient performance.
After the Toffees had come out all guns blazing for the first half an hour we eventually grew into the game and from thereon, there only looked like one winner.
Indeed, we had to wait until the fourth of eight added on minutes at the end of the second half to get it as Sadio Mane struck home Daniel Sturridge’s rebounded shot to send the away support into delirium.
We’re back in second as the title race continues, then, and here are three things we learned from our latest victory this season…
