According to French outlet Canal+ (via ESPNFC), Tiemoue Bakayoko is set to sign a contract extension at his current club Monaco in what would come as a big blow to us.
The powerful midfielder has earned himself a glowing reputation this season with him helping his club into a Ligue 1 title challenge as well as into the knockout stages of this season’s Champions League.
And, as quoted by the French outlet, Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has revealed that the player should be signing a new deal with the club in the near future:
“I’ve just extended Fabinho’s contract, and we’re doing the same with [Thomas] Lemar, Bakayoko and [Valere] Germain.”
This does come as a potential blow to our transfer plans this month with the Reds reportedly being linked with a move for midfielder by French outlet Le 10 sport.
It looks like we’re about to miss the boat for that one, though, and so if we’re looking to get a powerful central player in we’ll have to look elsewhere.
