After it became apparent yesterday that Jordan Henderson was not going to be fit to play against Manchester City, we once again started to worry about the depth of our squad.

Certainly, it’s a feeling that has never really gone away this season as through one injury or another we’ve been looking thin on the ground throughout the campaign.

Indeed, combined with the skipper’s lay-off, Dejan Lovren has also been suffering with a knock but he looks set to be back in the side before too long.

That’s because, as reported by the club’s official website, he played nearly the whole game against Chelsea U23’s last night as the young Reds side ran out 2-0 winners.

Goals from Harry Wilson and Trent Alexander-Arnold were enough to seal the victory at Prenton Park but what will please Jurgen Klopp most is that his Croatian defender is just about fully fit as we head to Man City this weekend.
