According to The Mirror, Southampton are looking into the possibility of signing Mamadou Sakho from us in the summer window.
Sakho, of course, was banished from the first team this season for a lack of discipline and duly found himself going on loan to Crystal Palace in January.
The powerful Frenchman has impressed since moving to south London, though, and if Jurgen Klopp decides enough water has passed under the bridge, he could be back in the fold for next season.
Alternatively, though, Sakho could be out for good and the Saints are seemingly keen to bolster their own defence.
That, we’re sure like many of you, has got us thinking that Virgil Van Dijk should be included in any such deal with the Dutch international impressing this season.
We’d like to see Sakho stay, of course, but we think Van Dijk is the better defender and if this is the best way to get him, so be it.
