As quoted by The Liverpool Echo, Arsene Wenger has ruled out a move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in this summer’s window.
The England international has been linked with the Reds for some time and it did appear as though he was one of our main targets for this current market.
Indeed, with his contract coming to an end at the end of the season coming, it was thought the Gunners might want to cash in with him yet to sign a new deal.
Even so, that has not come to pass and Wenger seems confident that it won’t this summer either.
He said when asked whether he thinks the player will remain at the club:
“Yes. 100%, I expect him to stay. No matter the speculation, he will stay.”
A blow for us, then, with it looking as though the midfielder will now not be at the club for 2017/18.
