This summer’s transfer market really has changed the way we look at football moves and valuations and it remains to be seen if things ever scale down again.

Indeed, we’re in the middle of a massive boom where football player valuations have gone utterly skyward and whether there is a dramatic bust around the corner is up for debate.

In the meantime, we’ll have to focus on the figures that are getting mentioned right now and, according to Ora Bolas – via goal.com in Brazil – Barcelona are to bid €130 million for Philippe Coutinho.

That, in our money, is a touch over £118 million and should the deal go through the Brazilian would be the second most expensive in history.

Indeed, this long-running deal is looking set for a hugely expensive ending at the moment and all we can do is wait and see if it comes to pass.
