As quoted by the club’s official website, striker Daniel Sturridge has revealed that the injury he looked to have picked up in the friendly against Bayern Munich should be nothing serious.

The Reds were in fine form last night as they beat Bayern Munich 3-0 to set up a final with Atletico Madrid in the Audi Cup with Sturridge coming on to score a sublime lofted effort as the final goal of the game.

During that motion, though, he seemed to pull-up with a quad problem but he has quickly moved to allay fears and maintain that he is feeling as good as he has for a while.

He said:

“I’m feeling great. I put in the work; I trained a lot in the summer in LA and I’ve not missed many sessions here. We’ve done triple sessions. I’ve pretty much trained every single session.

“I’m feeling the best I’ve felt for a while. I’m looking forward to the season and hopefully we can have some success this season as well.”

For sure, Sturridge has looked sharp in pre-season and that is obviously going to be a big help in the campaign if he can maintain his fitness.

This little niggle seems to be nothing to worry about, either, and so let’s just hope the worst of his injuries are behind him.
