As quoted by the club’s official website, Liverpool manager reserved special praise for Alberto Moreno after what was a superb performance against Bayern Munich last night.
The Spanish left-back has been much-maligned during his time on Merseyside and last season saw him delivered a rather big snub when James Milner became our regular left sided defender.
Moreno, then, looked likely to be sold this summer but after his performance against Bayern – particularly going forward – some may feel it’s too early to let him go.
Certainly, Klopp was impressed:
“It was a really good game from Alberto, that’s why we kept him on, because every second he was playing better, he was more present. He’s really fit but he’s had a little problem with his thigh since the day before yesterday. But we had a test with him this morning and he really played well. The players decide themselves how many games they play.”
The Spaniard really was flying up and down that left side and was solid enough in defensive situations too.
For sure, then, if he can keep that up he could still be a big part of the squad this year.
