As per The Mirror, Barcelona have given up on trying to sign Philippe Coutinho this summer for what was likely to be a second highest record transfer fee.

Over the last few weeks, the Catalans really did turn up the wick in trying to sign the Brazilian from the Reds but our club did always maintain that he’d be staying put for this season.

And, after three massive bids from the La Liga giants, they have given up with the Reds holding firm and staying true to their initial position.

Certainly, then, it’s a big win for Liverpool in the market in keeping the 25-year-old and now we’re hoping he can be integrated back into the side as quick as possible.

He’s likely lost some sharpness but we’re sure that’ll come back to him pretty quickly.
