Liverpool’s defence might have been criticised a fair bit in recent weeks but there can be no doubt that Joe Gomez has had a good time of things personally.
The young defender has been rightly praised for his performances that far outstrip his years and there is real excitement over where he career could go.
Naturally, the next step has been to pick up an international call-up and that is what has happened. As per the club’s official website, Gareth Southgate has picked him for the England squad and Gomez could now play against either Brazil or Germany.
It’s testament to the fine season he has had so far and we hope he gets his chance to shine as he could be a star for seasons to come.
