Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is widely reported to be keen on improving his side’s options between the sticks this summer and the Reds may have just received a huge boost in the chase for a prime target.

Klopp has eyed Roma ace Alisson as the ideal recruit this summer after the 25-year-old’s stellar performances for the Italian side, helping them secure a spot in the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in a decade.

The Serie A giants will certainly not let the Brazilian, who is poised to occupy the spot between the sticks for his nation at this summer’s World Cup, leave cheaply but a comment from a director has given Liverpool hope of a deal.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Roma director Monchi has left the door open for a potential exit after hinting he wouldn’t keep the South American against his will.

“In my head I see Alisson and [Alessandro] Florenzi to be a part of the Roma future. But we must also understand that what they think of the club. I’ve always been talking to Alessandro, he loves Rome and he wants to stay here. Then we just have to agree to move forward together.”

Roma, sat third in Serie A, face a stern battle to secure a top-four finish again this season as they seek to secure a spot in the Champions League again next term.
