Inter Milan have pulled out of the race to sign Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Bernard, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport (via the Mirror).

The Italian club have reportedly baulked at the 25 year old’s wage demands, leaving Liverpool as the firm favourites to sign the player.

The Reds are said to be monitoring Bernard, whose contract is up in the summer, and it looks as though they will have one less club to worry about in their pursuit of the playmaker.

Arsenal are also believed to be in the hunt for the Brazilian, but the midfielder is said to be top of Jurgen Klopp’s wishlist of replacements for Philippe Coutinho.

Bernard generally plays off the left wing, and for Shakhtar this season he has scored 10 goals, and provided four assists, in 29 appearances.

It was reported by ANSA in March that the player had decided to leave the Ukrainian club, five years after signing from Atletico Mineiro.
