Jack Butland is likely to be one of four players who join Liverpool this summer, according to the Independent.

The newspaper claim the Stoke City goalkeeper, 25, is firmly on the radar of the Merseyside giants ahead of a summer rebuild.

The Independent report that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to recruit up to four new players in the close-season window including a keeper, centre-half and another attacker.

OPINION

Liverpool might be in the Champions League final and could end the week as kings of Europe but that does not mean the jury is not still out on current number one Loris Karius. The German took over as the regular keeper midway through the season and has delivered some impressive performances during a campaign that could end in glory for Klopp’s side. But Karius has also cut a nervy figure who looks far from the finished product. In the semi-final against Roma, he was shaky in both legs, conceding six goals in total, and it has been a similar story in the Premier League, even though the defence in front of him has improved considerably since Virgil van Dijk’s arrival in January. Butland would represent an upgrade on Karius and his deputy Simon Mignolet. The England international is a proven Premier League performer and would not cost the earth (stats site Spotrac claim he earns £35,000-a-week). He is also likely to push for an exit following Stoke’s exit from the top flight. A move to Anfield is certainly highly possible.
