Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta has claimed that the club are confident a deal for Liverpool midfielder will be announced after the Champions League final, and fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news.

As quoted by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter on Saturday, Marotta said: “I’m confident we’ll be able to announce Emre Can signing after Champions League final.”

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport had previously claimed that the signing would be announced on the 27th of May, the day after Liverpool play in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, and Marotta’s statement seems to now have confirmed this.

Can has long been linked with a move to Turin to join the Serie A champions, and it now looks like that transfer will be confirmed in about a week’s time.

The 24-year-old Germany international has spent four years at Anfield since joining for £10million from Bayer Leverkusen, and has made 166 appearances for the club in that period.

He has spent a large chunk of this season on the sidelines with a back injury, and that complaint looks set to keep him out of the European showpiece, meaning he may have played his last game for the club.

Fans have now taken to Twitter to react to Marotta’s statement, with many bidding Can good riddance as they fume about his decision to leave the club.
