Liverpool are interested in signing Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha, according to a Guardian journalist.

The newspaper’s deputy news editor of their sports section took to his personal Twitter account on Wednesday to report that Palace are set to offer a new contract to the 25-year-old to fend off interest from the Reds, Chelsea and Tottenham.

Zaha has four years remaining on the contract he signed with the south London club in May of last year.

OPINION

Those who doubted whether Zaha could be a consistent Premier League forward are starting to eat their words. He ended the recent season in the form of his life, taking to a new false nine role with a series of majestic goal-laden performances. Zaha’s 2017-18 stats are not astounding – nine goals and five assists from 29 league matches – but that does not tell the tale of how much panic he instills in opposition defences when he has the ball at his feet. Liverpool struggled to deal with him in the first half of their March win at Selhurst Park, when he targeted Trent Alexander-Arnold and won a penalty with a trademark run on goal. Zaha has always had great feet and the ability to carry the ball forward long distances. He is now learning to play with his back to goal and his much-improved movement makes him more of a handful than ever before. Five goals in the final six matches of 2017-18 is proof of his greater potency.
