Liverpool will need to bring in midfield reinforcements this summer as Emre Can prepares to announce his move to Juventus, and the club have a perfect opportunity to replace him with a world-class rising star.

As reported by the BBC, France international midfielder Adrien Rabiot has rejected the chance of a place on the standby list for Les Bleus’ World Cup squad.

The 23-year-old Paris Saint-Germain star has been slammed by France coach Didier Deschamps and the France Football Federation for his decision, and further reports suggest the issues run deeper for Rabiot.

As reported by L’Equipe, translated by Italian outletĀ Calciomercato, Rabiot is said to see PSG as a big cause behind the decision to leave him out of the 23-man squad.

Calciomercato also report that Juventus and Arsenal are said to be chasing the pass master this summer amid this bust-up, and Liverpool must hijack that interest in the coming weeks.

It is said that Rabiot has no intention of signing an extension at the Parc des Princes, and with just one year left on his deal, that opens the door to a move to Anfield this summer.

The 23-year-old would be the perfect replacement for Emre Can, with his passing ability among the best in his position in European football.

He would be able to slot straight in to the Reds’ midfield, with his 6ft 3in [Transfermarkt] frame allowing him to boss that area once he has adapted to the Premier League.

Rabiot also offers good productivity from central midfield, with the youngster scoring five goals and chipping in with seven assists in all competitions last season.

Calciomercato claim that he may look to push through a cut-price deal this summer with time in his contract running out, and Liverpool must be prepared to hijack the interest from elsewhere.

Rabiot would be a perfect signing for the club as they look to push towards a serious challenge for the Premier League title, and the club must recognise that before it’s too late.
