Liverpool could sign Bayer Leverkusen sensation Julian Brandt this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claim on their website that the possibility of the 22-year-old moving to Anfield cannot be ruled out as the Premier League giants look for alternatives to Nabil Fekir following last weekend’s transfer collapse.

Sky Sports report that Brandt is valued at £36million following his impressive campaign for Leverkusen, which catapulted him into Germany’s World Cup squad.

OPINION

Brandt is a serious talent good enough to keep Manchester City sensation Leroy Sane out of Germany’s travelling party to Russia. That is as good a measure of the left-sided forward’s ability as the rave reviews for his performances for Leverkusen in 2017-18, when his 39 matches in all competitions yielded 12 goals and nine assists. Brandt, who has been capped 16 times by the senior Germany team, has already made 172 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit despite his tender age, scoring 32 goals and supplying 34 assists in all competitions. The youngster, who joined Leverkusen from Wolfsburg in 2014, is contracted until 2021 after signing an extension in April. This means Liverpool and other suitors would have to spend big money to get him There will be stiff competition with Bayern Munich among those clubs also linked with trying to win the youngster’s signature. But he is a hugely promising player who could be a world beater in years to come.
