Emre Can will undergo a medical at Juventus this week after agreeing a four-year contract, according to Sky Sports.

The Italian edition of the broadcaster claim, as cited by the Sky Sports website, claim that the 20-times Germany international is putting the finishing touches to a long-mooted transfer from Anfield.

Sky report that Can will join Juve on a free transfer as his contract with the Champions League finalists expires at the end of this month.

OPINION

News that the transfer of Can to Juve will finally go through this week will be met by weary shrugs from Liverpool fans who have had months to get used to the prospect of the 24-year-old quitting on a Bosman free. To their credit, the Anfield hierarchy have worked quickly to replace Can by already sealing the capture of Fabinho from Monaco for a fee of around £43million. Had Can not ran down his deal, then he would have been worth a similar price in the current market. It is a financial blow to lose a key first teamer for nothing, and also a sporting one. The German has steadily improved during his four years at Anfield, and many regard him as the best of the central midfielders available to Jurgen Klopp in the recently-completed domestic season. He will be missed, and the value of the experience he has gained from 167 Premier League appearances should not be overlooked. It is telling that Liverpool tried hard to keep him, before accepting the inevitable.
