Liverpool are open to a loan return to Cardiff City for midfielder Marko Grujic after holding talks with the newly-promoted club, according to BBC Sport.

The broadcaster report that the Bluebirds are keen to secure a return for the 23-year-old enforcer, who impressed on a six-month loan spell at the Cardiff City Stadium.

BBC Sport claim that Liverpool are open to the move happening once again, but the decision depends on talks with Grujic upon his return from the World Cup, with Serbia having been eliminated on Wednesday.

Good move for Liverpool?

Absolutely.

Grujic is still rated highly at Liverpool, but the path to the first-team for the 6ft 3in central midfielder [Transfermarkt] is looking increasingly blocked, and a loan looks the best option for all involved.

Liverpool will be keen for the young Serbia international to get as much game time as possible, and it looks like he would get top-flight minutes at Cardiff, which is the best possible outcome.

Likely to happen?

It looks like this is the most likely move for Grujic this summer, despite reported interest from elsewhere.

There were claims of interest from Serie A clubs, which would have been an interesting proposition, but they reportedly wanted a permanent deal, which Liverpool would not consider under £10million.

A loan therefore looks to be the best option for all, and this one looks like it should go through, pending confirmation from Grujic that he wants to go.
