Atletico Madrid star Jan Oblak is the dream signing for Liverpool bosses as the club search for a new goalkeeper this summer, according to the Mirror

The newspaper report that the 25-year-old Slovenia international is the Reds’ first choice to replace Loris Karius as their number one stopper for next season.

The Mirror claim however that there are several stumbling blocks to any deal being struck, with questions over whether Oblak would want to leave the Madrid club also compounded by the issue of his £87.5million release clause.

Good move for Liverpool?

100%.

It is hardly surprising that Oblak is Liverpool’s dream signing, with the Slovenian possessing some ridiculous stats during his time at Atletico Madrid.

In 162 games for the club, Oblak has managed to keep an amazing 93 clean sheets, conceding just 100 goals in the process.

The 25-year-old is clearly one of the world’s best stoppers at the current moment, and if Liverpool were to get him, then they would be a force to be reckoned with next season.

Likely to happen?

As the Mirror state, there are several obstacles to any deal going through.

Oblak’s happiness at Atletico is the first, with there being no sign that the goalkeeper would want to leave Diego Simeone’s team behind, especially after their win in the Europa League.

His huge £87.5million release clause is another problem, with Liverpool surely reluctant to splash out such an amount on a goalkeeper.

Unfortunately that may mean that the Reds have to pursue other targets, with a move for Oblak looking unlikely to happen.
